What a terrific scoop when we learnt, and reliably so, that gun-totting thieves the other day attacked students' residential areas in Bambili (Bamenda). This is bad news. Hold your breath as you read on. TalkShop was informed that the more than 20 armed men manhandled and even raped students. Worse still, this armed attack comes at a time when students (who are the future pillars of this "our beloved fatherland"), are burning their midnight candles preparing for the GCE and other examinations. What a traumatic experience as the once serene atmosphere (in Bambili) was constantly being perturbed (for weeks) by break-ins in this citadel of learning. At last the students said "enough is enough" and went demonstrating.
The 37th national day, May 20,2009 in the Ako/Misaje special constituency in Donga Mantung division featured a popular show by the population that is solidly by the nation for progress and prosperity. Both communities of the Ako and Misaje sub divisions were active in their commitment for the unity of the nation as a treasure. Their love for a country that is one and indivisible was demonstrated in the numbers that filed out at respective ceremonial grounds to commemorate the event whose theme featured the nation's armed forces and the nation acting together for development.
